Many of us in Southern Delaware have been busy keeping tourists happy and running our businesses, it’s been hard to put together an event. Now that the summer season is drawing to a close, we hope to have more #DeHappyHour events in Southern Delaware.
So we’ve put together our NEXT #DeHappyHour for Southern Delaware to help usher in the FALL season and start having some fun. This is an opportunity for locals, businesses and individuals from anywhere in Delaware who are into social media, like Twitter and Facebook, to get out and get Social.
I would like to invite you to attend our FALL kickoff #DeHappyHour for Southern Delaware. Wednesday, September 22nd. from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at The Georgia House in Milford.
The Georgia House

The Georgia House has put together 9 different appetizers just for our event that I know you will enjoy. Stay after and have dinner in their downstairs dining room.

We choose the Milford location because it’s close enough for both Kent and Sussex County people to get to. This event is not limited to just Kent and Sussex County people, we welcome anyone from Delaware to attend.

So please sign up for this event at our Eventbrite site. Tickets are FREE. We just need to know how many people will be attending so The Georgia House knows how many people to expect.

So Please join us on September 22nd. to get out and meet and greet friends you han’t seen in a while and make NEW friends.

Well our first #DeHappyHour for Southern Delaware was a great success !  All in attendance, about 30 tweeps (I lost count as other patrons came in and just joined in) and non-tweeps, had a great time at Abbott’s Grill in Downtown Milford.  We had a great time meeting each other, many of us for the first time, and networking with one another.

Thanks to Chrissy Sarro and Abbot’s Grill for hosting this event.  Abbott’s offers a great menu with upscale appetizers and wonderful entree’s and sandwiches.   We took over Bald Jason’s Pub, and even included those who were sitting at the bar.

Networking and meeting new people were they key to this event, but we also had fun getting together.

Shortly before the 8:00 the Mayor, Joseph “Ronnie” Rogers and some of the City Council showed up and were incorporated into the group.

We didn’t solve all of Kent and Sussex County’s problems but we did discuss possibilities for future events.  The need for more local Social Network Media training and a Delaware Poken.  While the business Cards were flying around (a no no for #DeHappyHour) it was OK this time, we were newbies to this event.  Pokens would have been great.  So I’ll be checking into that possibility.

Thanks to Elizabeth Purcell of DwntwnMilford for Suggesting the location and helping with crowd control.

Everybody I spoke with is ready to do it again.  So stay tuned to #DeHappyHour for information on our next Event for Southern Delaware.

To all of you who attended, Thank you.  You all made this a great event !

Just a few months ago, I attended the Social Media Network Train….Well I jumped on board the train.  So many interesting people, so many people interested in Social Networking.  I have come across so many interesting people since then and have enjoyed talking and tweeting with you all.

It seemed like most of the networking was going on in New Castle County, and well it’s a little hard for me and probably many of us in Lower Delaware to make it to those social events.

My DREAM:  Though the use of #NetDe brings us all closer, my Dream is to make Delaware ONE from New Castle County to Kent and Sussex Counties.  Through the use of Social Media we are ONE and the First State Rocks when it come to using social media to unite us all.

But I wanted to see more participation from lower Delaware.  And I wanted to see a more regular events that gets us all together.

Enter #DeHappyHour.  Lets make it State Wide.  Lets have some #DeHappyHour’s downstate.  Rodney Jordan was my inspiration.  It’s hard enough for Rodney to keep up with the #DeHappyHour’s upstate, so I’m pitching in to help.

I BELIEVE:  That #DeHappyHour could work in Lower Delaware.  Maybe not as often as once a week, but maybe start out once a month.  I BELIEVE I can do this, and I BELIEVE there are others out there who are also interested.

The DARE:  So I took a dare and Flipped it out there.  I tweeted it and got responses of interest.  With the help of Elizabeth Purcell, I got a contact and venue that was interested in doing this.  After contact Chrissy from Abbott’s Grill, I found that she was excited to help me out and host our first downstate even.  What a perfect place, beautiful Downtown Milford.  What a cool place, Abbott’s Grill.  Big enough to accommodate a crowd.

DO:  Half the battle of getting something new started is stepping over the thresh hold and making it happen.  Well I did just that. I’m on the DO !  It’s starting to come together and I’m excited to be able to share this with all of you.  Lets all be Doers and help make this a success !

So to anyone, from New Castle, Kent or Sussex County.  If your into Social Media or NOT.  If you want to meet the best people in Delaware, I’d like to invite you to our first #DeHappyHour in Southern Delaware, Thursday June 3rd. from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Abbott’s Grill in Downtown Milford.

You can get tickets (FREE) and directions by going to http://sdehappyhour.eventbrite.com

Lets all be Doer’s and come out to #DeHappyHour on June 3rd.

Thanks to Rodney Jordan, Elizabeth Purcell and Abbott’s Grill and to ALL of You who are my inspiration.

Anyone wishing to help out in future events, or in hosting or sponsoring a #DeHappyHour please contact me at sdehappyhour@comcast.net
